Love Above All – Music Video

Love Above All was inspired by a hashtag movement – #loveaboveall2020 – created by our friend Al Ortega who is well known as a red carpet and Getty Images photographer He got busy shooting Hollywood’s denizens holding signs in support of it.

Bass and vocals by Natasha Blasick

Instruments, vocals and producing by Martin Blasick

Directed by Al Ortega

I took Al’s message to be what comes after – in a more perfect world – we meet the moment of 2020’s challenges, a day all people easily say Black Lives Matter and understated what it really means and doesn’t mean. In that hypothetical utopia what comes after? This is Snowflakes’ take on that.

Al came over to our place and directed the video. I did the edit in Premiere.

Where were you
In the summer of 2020?
In the middle of it all?
Or watching everything from afar?

I saw things I never dreamed
Things I thought would never come to be
It was a song whose time has come
Like a rising of the sun
Bright as a star

Love above all
Love above all
Be still my friend
And hear the call
There’s still work and miles to go
Along the way
But in the end
It’s love
Love above all

Damn the plague
There’s injustice that’s boiling over
It’s been going on too long
Can’t figure out how to end that song

Then there came a spark of fire
You can’t contain the human heart’s desire
It was a spirit of the soul
And a calling to be whole
Now sing along

chorus

We can be standing by side
The time is now
To let go of foolish pride
Free, we’re free
