Healing Arts Fest

We shared our talents at a lovely Healing Arts Fest with Siberian Healers in Hollywood, CA at Plummer Park. It was a great gathering of positive minded souls. Besides UFOs and environmental issues, our other main topic of lyrics is conscious music which is positive minded with an intention to be our best selves.

Live – UnUrban Cafe – Feb 21

We had a very fun 3 song set at UnUrban Cafe in Santa Monica. Loved seeing friends and paring our show down to a bare minimum.

Live At Cork Lounge

We played an unexpected set at Cork Lounge. It was a thrill to play with Natasha’s sister, Marina, in attendance. We’d just recorded a version of INXS’s “Beautiful Girl” with Marina on lead vocals. We found ourselves really enjoying the music and getting back up on stage.

Snowflakes Podcast Available On iTunes

Maybe it’s no big deal to the experienced podcasters, but we’re tickled silly that iTunes carries our podcast:

Snowflakes Podcast on iTunes

It’s just a pretty cool world that lets us share what’s up via iTunes’ really big umbrella. No money changes hands. They incorporate the RSS info into their podcast store but don’t host the media. That stays of our server. It’s a win-win. It’s easy to subscribe from the iTunes store.

I (Martin here) was slow to learn how to enjoy podcasts. Once I finally forced myself to study my iTunes for 5 minutes, I got tons of pleasure from podcasts that I’ve now followed for a couple of years. One of them is nearing its 200th episode. And the shows I listen to are never never never going to be on a mainstream outlet.

Did I dream that I’d be a podcaster? Or that Snowflakes would podcast? Never once until we attended the Los Angeles Podcast Festival recently. Now that the RSS thingy is worked out I believe our next Snowflakes episode will automatically appear on iTunes. Time to check the microphones…

An Intimate Night With Snowflakes – Nov 16, 2013

We’ll be playing Venice, CA’s The Love Dome on Nov 16.

“Doors open at 9:00pm, music starts promptly at 10:00pm. Immerse yourself in hours of acoustic tunes with Snowflakes. Cash donation bar, no outside beverages please. Artist Q&A after the show. Only 40 tickets available. Pre-sale only.”

We are so looking forward to this. It seems almost like a house concert, which we’ve yet to play. There’s an hour of music, an hour of mingling and then another, shorter set. It sounds like a perfectly lovely evening to us. All the details are on our gig calender Tickets are being sold through EventBrite. The Love Dome is a westside institution.

Sunday Set For Saturday Sinners

Sunday SetWe’re delighted to play a guest set at Mark Prudeaux’s Sunday Set For Saturday Sinners at TRiP in Santa Monica. It’s a monthly show that includes giveaways, $2 mimosas and a 3pm set by Mark.

Trailer Release Party – Mental Health Awareness

Snowflakes is proud to contribute a performance tonight for a film, The Forgotten Heartbeat, promoting mental health awareness. Pics to follow. Mini red carpet. Great cause.

Edit: The event was lovely. Amanda’s trailer is compelling. Her movie deserves to be made. The mysteries of electronics made the PA unavailable. So we just played acoustically. The electric bass worked because we just plugged the amp into an outlet.  We were really touched by how carefully people listened. The Medusa in Silverlake was the locale. We love a Friday night tiki party. We love the movie Freaky Friday. Enter the Freaky Tiki Beach Party. The venue is Raw Star Cafe in Santa Monica. We’ll be alternating sets with Bliss Factory which we’re jamming in too. Lots of playing time and healthy food. Pics will be taken

Sunday Celebration Hosted By Jonathan Zadok

Jonathan Zadok hosts some really great comedy and songwriter nights around Los Angeles. Snowflakes is always delighted to jam at his soirées. Max Holly showed up to cheer on the night. Tom Bishell appeared out of the blue and snapped neat photos. He’s a pro and it shows! The sound was great onstage and we had a thoroughly wonderful rock out sesh. Photos by Tom Bishell.
